Advertising Policies

  1. OVERVIEW. These Advertising Policies (these “Policies“) provides guidance on what types of ad content is allowed. When advertisers and publishers place an order, each ad is reviewed against these policies. This Policy applies to any agreement which references it.
  2. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY. Direqt may update these Policies from time to time, so we recommend that you review it periodically. Any modifications shall be effective immediately upon posting of the modified guidelines on our website.
  3. THE AD REVIEW PROCESS In order to maintain professionalism and integrity, and in order to make sure ads meet our Policies, ads will be not run until approved through our ad review process. Typically most ads are reviewed within 24 hours, although in some cases it may take longer.
  4. STEPS TO TAKE IF YOUR AD IS REJECTED If your ad is rejected, we’ll provide the reason via email. If you’d like, you can edit your ad to comply with our Policies and resubmit.
  5. PROHIBITED CONTENTIllegal Products, Services and Activities. Ads must not constitute, facilitate, or promote illegal products, services or activities, and all such ads are strictly prohibited. Ads targeted to minors must not promote products, services, or content that are inappropriate, illegal, or unsafe, or that exploit, mislead, or exert undue pressure on the age groups targeted. Ads must comply with all applicable laws, including laws covering what content is allowed in ads and how ads are targeted.‍Discrimination. We do not tolerate discrimination. Ads must not discriminate or encourage discrimination against people based on personal attributes such as race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, disability, medical or genetic condition. Ads must comply with this as well as all laws, including laws that prohibit discrimination in connection with education, housing, credit and employment.‍Offensive to Good Taste. Ads must not be offensive to good taste. This means ads must not be, for example, hateful, vulgar, sexually suggestive or violent. In special circumstances, Direqt may determine that an ad that was acceptable is no longer appropriate as we update our policies to reflect new laws or clarify our position.‍Fraud and Deception. Ads must not be fraudulent or deceptive. Your product or service must accurately match the content of your ad. Any claims in your ad must have factual support. Do not make deceptive or inaccurate claims about competitive products or services. Do not imply you or your product are affiliated with or endorsed by others without their permission. Do not advertise prices or offers that are inaccurate – any advertised discount, offer or price must be easily discoverable from the link in your ad.

    ‍Trademark Infringement. Ads must not contain content that infringes upon or violates trademarks belonging to third parties unless express permission has been granted by the trademark owner. You should not use trademarks, logos, service marks or company names in a way that would be confusing to the user, or imply an affiliation or endorsement when there is none.

    ‍Copyright Infringement. Ads must not contain content that infringes upon or violates use copyrights belonging to third parties unless express permission has been granted by the copyright owner.

    ‍Fake Documents and Related Services. Ads for fake documents and related services are prohibited.

    Tobacco and Related Products. Ads for tobacco products are prohibited. This includes ads selling or promoting, directly or indirectly, any tobacco products (such as cigarettes, pipes, cigars), alternative tobacco products (such as e-cigarettes or vaporizers), or any related equipment that facilitates the use of tobacco. Lawful products and services which promote quitting tobacco are permitted.

    Drugs and Related Products. Ads must not promote the sale or use of illegal, prescription, or recreational drugs or products related thereto.

    ‍Weapons, Ammunition, Explosives and Fireworks. Ads related to the promotion, use or sale of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and fireworks or any other violent product or service are prohibited.

    Adult Products or Services. Ads must not promote the sale or use of adult products or services. Ads promoting sexual and reproductive health products or services, like contraception and family planning must be targeted to people 18 years or older and must not focus on sexual pleasure.

    Adult Content. Ads must not contain adult content. This includes nudity, depictions of people in explicit or suggestive positions, or activities that are overly suggestive or sexually provocative.

    ‍Sensational Content. Ads must not contain shocking, sensational, inflammatory or excessively violent content.

    ‍Grammar & Profanity. Ads must not contain profanity or bad grammar and punctuation. Symbols, numbers and letters must be used properly without the intention of circumventing our ad review process or other enforcement systems.

    ‍Misleading Claims. Ads must not contain deceptive, false, or misleading claims like those relating to the effectiveness or characteristics of a product or service or claims setting unrealistic expectations for users such as misleading health, employment, or weight-loss claims.

    ‍Counterfeit Goods and Services. Ads for counterfeit goods and services are prohibited.

    Spyware or Malware. Ads must not contain spyware, malware, or any software that results in an unexpected or deceptive experience. This includes links to sites containing these products.

    ‍Unacceptable Business Practices. Ads must not promote products, services, schemes or offers using deceptive or misleading practices, including those meant to scam people out of money or personal information.

    ‍Circumventing Systems. Ads must not use tactics intended to circumvent our ad review process or other enforcement systems. This includes techniques that attempt to disguise the ad’s content or destination page

    ‍Occult Pursuits. Ads for fortune telling, dream interpretations and individual horoscopes are prohibited, except when the emphasis is on amusement rather than serious interpretation.

    ‍Health Matters. Ads promoting unrealistic or misleading claims about health improvements, including related to diet and weight loss, are prohibited. Ads promoting unhealthy or unsafe behaviors, such as excessive consumption of an item, are also prohibited. Direqt reserves the right to restrict advertising related to any health matter if targeted inappropriately.

    ‍Political. Political ads are prohibited, including ads advocating for or against a particular candidate, party, or ballot proposition or otherwise intended to influence an election outcome; ads fundraising for or by political candidates, parties, political action committees or similar organizations, or ballot propositions; and ads exploiting a sensitive political issue even if the advertiser has no explicit political agenda.

    ‍Sensitive Events. Direqt does not allow ads that are inappropriate during the time of or in relation to a tragedy, disaster, or similarly sensitive event.

    ‍Hacking, Cracking and Circumvention. Ads that promote products or services for hacking, cracking or circumvention are prohibited.Incomplete Ad. Incomplete ads will be rejected. If your ad is rejected as incomplete, please finalize it and resubmit.

  6. RESTRICTED CONTENTAlcohol. Ads for alcoholic products are restricted, only available in certain countries, and only allowed with our prior written consent. Ads that promote or reference alcohol must comply with all applicable local laws, required or established industry codes, guidelines, licenses and approvals, and include age and country targeting criteria consistent with applicable local laws.‍Dating Services. Ads for dating services are restricted and only allowed with our prior written consent. Such ads may never be targeted at members under 18. The dating services must be legal in the applicable jurisdiction and must not engage in “escort type” services where any person is compensated to participate in the date. Direqt reserves discretion to determine the appropriateness of the service.‍Online Gambling and Gaming. Ads that promote online gambling, and gaming where anything of monetary value (including cash or digital/virtual currencies, e.g. bitcoin) is required to play and anything of monetary value forms part of the prize, are only allowed with our prior written permission. This includes games where purchases are required to continue game play and/or provide advantage in winning prizes, in cases where the prize is of monetary value. Authorized advertisers must follow all applicable laws, including targeting their ads in accordance with legal requirements. At a minimum, ads may not be targeted to people under 18 years of age.‍Financial and Insurance Products and Services. Ads promoting credit card applications, or financial services with accredited institutions must clearly provide sufficient disclosure regarding associated fees, including APR percentages, transaction fees, interest rates and the physical address of the entity offering the product within the ad’s landing page. Ads promoting credit cards, loans or insurance services must be targeted to people 18 years or above. Ads promoting credit cards, loans or insurance services must not directly request the input of a person’s financial information, including credit card information.‍Cryptocurrency Products and Services. Ads may not promote cryptocurrency trading or related products and services without our prior written consent.

    Soliciting Funds. Ads for soliciting funds are restricted. Direqt allows ads that solicit funds only if they comply with applicable laws and would qualify as tax deductible or charitable in the applicable jurisdiction.

    Short-term Loans and Financial Services. Ads for payday loans, paycheck advances or similar short-term loan products are restricted and only allowed with our prior written consent.

  7. SAFETY AND PRIVACY Harm to Direqt or its Customers. Ads must not promote or endorse products, services or actions that would result in a breach of Direqt’s Privacy Policy, or that may result in harm to Direqt or its customers.‍Fair and Legal Billing Practices. The products and services advertised in your ad must have fair billing practices and follow all applicable laws.‍Malicious Software/Browser. Ads must not be used to promote, install or distribute viruses, worms, spyware, malware or other malicious software. Software should only be installed with the permission of the user and should be readily removable by the user. Software features should be made apparent to the user, with no undisclosed features or functions that could harm the user or the user’s data, software or devices. Do not use any browser flaws/exploits to install software or bypass standard browser security restrictions.‍Phishing. Do not use an ad to promote a website that tricks a user into providing personal or other information.‍Privacy. Advertisers are responsible for complying with all applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations. Do not use tracking cookies to track users across sites without full disclosure and consent of the users.

    Targeting on Sensitive Characteristics. Ads must not target based on sensitive categories such as health, political affiliation/beliefs, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical affiliation/beliefs, alleged/actual commission of a crime, sexual behavior/orientation, trade union membership or income.

  8. MISCELLANEOUSCompliance with All Applicable laws. Advertisers are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable laws and regulations, in addition to these ads policies. For example, UK advertisers should follow the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing (CAP Code) administered by the Advertising Standards Authority. Failure to comply may result in a variety of consequences, including the cancellation of ads you have placed and termination of your account.‍Third Party Advertisers. If you are managing ads on behalf of other advertisers, each advertiser or client must be managed through separate ad accounts. You must not change the advertiser or client associated with an established ad account; and must set up a new account. You are responsible for ensuring that each advertiser complies with these Policies.‍Our Sole Discretion. We reserve the right to reject, approve or remove any ad for any reason, in our sole discretion, including ads that negatively affect our relationship with our users or that promote content, services, or activities, contrary to our competitive position, interests, or advertising philosophy.
